New Castle County Head Start, Inc. recognizes and supports parents in their role as the children’s first teachers. Head Start has an open-door policy for parents. All parents are welcome to volunteer in the classroom, attend parent meetings, and participate in parent trainings and/or other program activities. Parents also serve on the agency’s Policy Council, which works closely with the Board of Directors and the Executive Director, to establish policies and practices related to the program.
New Castle County Head Start, Inc. offers parents personal development and support services, including continuing education Training in Early Care and Education (TECE) classes, employment training, parenting skills workshops, and emergency assistance services.

Ages & Stages Questionnaires
New Castle County Head Start, Inc. participates in the Ages & Stages Questionnaires, Third Edition (ASQ-3) with Christina, Colonial, Brandywine, and Red Clay School Districts. These questionnaires assess your child’s current skills in the areas of communication, gross motor, fine motor, problem-solving, and social-emotional to determine if your child is meeting the milestones for his/her age. The two Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQ) are online questionnaires for parents to complete.
